Our vision is for an integrated mental health and addiction service, with a focus on local delivery across the district. Local specialist mental health and addiction care is one component of a complete service continuum of care pathway. This is underpinned by an integrated whole of system approach.
Te Paepae Ārahi Trust (in partnership with Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora - MHAIDS) are seeking a Clinical Coordinator who can lead within a kaupapa Māori environment while ensuring strong clinical practice and safe pathways for tāngata whaiora.
The Clinical Coordinator will:
- lead kaupapa Māori clinical practice within the service
- manage referrals and triage using a holistic, whānau-centred approach
- integrate cultural and clinical pathways in partnership with cultural staff, rongoā practitioners, and MHAIDS clinicians
- support staff wellbeing and development across a mixed workforce (clinical, cultural, lived experience, rongoā)
- ensures safe, effective, trauma-informed care
- uphold tikanga, kawa, and the kaupapa of Te Paepae Ārahi
- build strong relationships with community providers, primary care, and MHAIDS teams.
This role is ideal for someone who can move confidently between cultural and clinical worlds, lead with humility, and support a service grounded in Māori ways of being.
About the Team/Service/Location
Te Wheke o Muturangi is a new kaupapa Māori clinical mental health and addiction service supporting tāngata whaiora and whānau across Te Awakairangi. Grounded in mātauranga Māori, wairuatanga, whanaungatanga, and rongoā Māori, the service delivers holistic care in homes, marae, and community settings.
The service supports tāngata whaiora aged 18+ experiencing moderate to severe mental health and/or addiction challenges. Care is grounded in kaupapa Māori models of wellbeing, including Te Wheke, and affirms wairuatanga, whānau-centred practice, mana motuhake and recovery-oriented approaches.
About you
You will have:
- clinical registration (e.g., nursing, social work, psychology, occupational therapy) with an Annual Practising Certificate
- experience working in kaupapa Māori or Māori-led services
- strong understanding of Māori models of health and tikanga
- skills in risk assessment and therapeutic interventions/modalities
- the ability to lead in a bicultural, multidisciplinary environment
- a full New Zealand driver's licence
- the ability to consent to full New Zealand Police Vetting check, including overseas check.
