Kairāranga ā Whānau - Make a Difference for Tamariki and Whānau

Raukawa Whānau Ora is seeking a passionate and culturally grounded Kairāranga ā Whānau to support tamariki, rangatahi, and whānau to strengthen connections with whānau, hapū, iwi, and culture. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference by helping whānau participate in decision-making processes that support positive
outcomes for tamariki.
About the Role
As our Kairāranga ā Whānau, you will:
- Build and maintain relationships with whānau, hapū, iwi, and community networks.
- Undertake whakapapa and whānau searching activities to strengthen connections for tamariki.
- Support social workers and coordinators to identify whānau members and natural support networks.
- Organise and facilitate hui-a-whānau and support participation in Family Group Conferences.
- Empower tamariki to have a voice in decisions affecting their lives.
- Advocate for culturally responsive, child-centred practice grounded in mana tamaiti and kaupapa Māori.
- Support cultural capability and relationship-building across the organisation and wider community.
About You
You will bring:
- Experience working with vulnerable tamariki, rangatahi, and whānau.
- Strong understanding of te reo Māori me ōna tikanga and kaupapa Māori practice.
- Knowledge of whakapapa, whānau, hapū, and iwi engagement.
- Established relationships and networks within iwi, marae, and local communities.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, advocacy, and engagement skills.
- The ability to work effectively with diverse cultures, particularly Māori and Pacific communities.
- An understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles and relevant child wellbeing legislation.
- Resilience, professionalism, and a commitment to achieving positive outcomes for whānau.
