Fire and Emergency New Zealand (FENZ) is on a mission to keep all New Zealanders safe, especially Māori communities. We're looking for a passionate individual to join our team as a Pou Takawaenga Māori.
You will:
- Champion Fire and Emergency's commitment to Māori (tangata whenua) within your rohe (area)
- Foster strong relationships with iwi, hapū, whānau, and other Māori stakeholders.
- Deliver cultural training and education within your rohe.
- Provide expert advice on incorporating Māori perspectives into fire safety initiatives.
This is a fixed-term role starting ASAP through to the end of December 2026
Ko tāu nā i tēnei tūranga - What you’ll bring to the role:
You are a proven relationship builder with:
- Deep understanding of tikanga Māori and cultural protocols.
- Experience working collaboratively with Māori communities.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in te reo Māori (or actively seeking fluency).
The salary range for this role is $95,096 to $105,662 (pro rata) dependent on skills and experience relevant to the role.
