About Us

Ngati Ruanui Tahua Limited is a whanau ora service provider in South Taranaki, offering a kaupapa Maori, holistic approach to supporting whanau and our wider community.  Our services encompass kohanga reo, early childcare, whanau ora and social services, iwi support and clinical practices.

We are seeking a Kaiarahi - Court & Justice to join our Whanau Ora team.  Reporting to the Whanau Ora Manager, this is a specialist navigation role supporting whanau who are engaging with the Justice system, including the South Taranaki District Court, Corrections, Probation and other relevant services.

The ideal applicant will have strong connections to Taranaki and a genuine passion for strengthening outcomes for Maori and whanau.  The successful incumbent will bring credibility, sound judgement, life experience, mana and the ability to build trust with people who may be under pressure, uncertain, or facing complex challenges.  They will be comfortable working in a kaupapa Maori environment and alongside a collaborative, multi-disciplinary support team.

About the Role

This role walks alongside whanau before, during and after engagement with the Justice system.  The Kaiarahi - Court & Justice will provide culturally grounded support, practical navigation, advocacy and connection back to whanau-led goals, kaupapa Maori programmes and community support.  This role will:

  • Support whanau to understand and navigate Court, Corrections, Probation and related Justice processes.
  • Provide support, advocacy and practical guidance in a way that upholds mana, dignity and privacy.
  • Build trust relationships with whanau, hapu, Court, Police, Corrections, legal services and community providers.
  • Work with whanau to identify aspirations, strengths, barriers and practical next steps.
  • Connect whanau into kaupapa Maori local support including Whanau Ora programmes, health, housing and other services.
  • Support prevention and early intervention by helping whanau stabilise, reconnect and reduce the likelihood of reoffending or further Justice system involvement.
  • Maintain records and contribute to reporting on whanau goals, progress and outcomes.

About You

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Be able to build rapport and trust with whanau including people who may feel anxious, frustrated or disconnected from services.
  • Bring personal maturity, mana, resilience, discretion and sound boundaries.
  • Have strong communication, advocacy and problem-solving skills.
  • Have an understanding of kaupapa Maori, tikanga and the importance of culturally safe practice.
  • Be confident working across agencies and multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Have experience in whanau ora care, social services, justice, health, mental health or a related field.
  • Hold a full current NZ Driver Licence.
