The Ministry of Justice is seeking an exceptional General Manager Delivery and Performance to lead the delivery of Te Au Reka, a transformative programme modernising the way courts and tribunals operate.
Te Au Reka is a landmark initiative, delivered in partnership between the Ministry and the judiciary, focused on shifting the courts away from manual ways of operating to digitally enabled practices. The work is complex, highly visible and deeply meaningful, improving experiences and outcomes for the people who rely on our courts every day.
Based in Wellington, this role sits at the heart of one of New Zealand’s most significant transformation programmes. Your leadership will ensure the programme is orchestrated and aligned to achieve delivery success, while building a culture of high performance, collaboration and accountability.

Āu Mahi | What You'll Do
As General Manager Delivery and Performance, you will play a critical leadership role in shaping and delivering the future of Te Au Reka. Working across a broad and complex environment, you will:
- Drive integrated programme delivery across multiple workstreams, ensuring strategic alignment, delivery momentum and long-term benefits realisation.
- Build trusted, credible relationships across the Ministry, judiciary, sector agencies, suppliers and internal teams to navigate complexity and drive outcomes.
- Create the conditions for high performance through strong programme disciplines, transparent reporting, sound risk management and a focus on continuous improvement.
- Providing authoritative advice to senior leaders, governance bodies, and ministers on delivery performance, risks, and options to optimise outcomes.
- Represent the Deputy Secretary in key governance forums, contributing to critical decisions that shape programme direction, performance and delivery outcomes.
- Ensure services and delivery approaches remain user focused, helping improve access to justice and creating better user experiences.

- Leading large-scale transformation or business critical programmes with multiple moving parts, competing priorities and significant visibility.
- Building trusted relationships and influencing at the executive and board level and between organisations.
- Bringing clarity and momentum to complex delivery environments, balancing strategic priorities with operational realities.
- Leading high performing, multidisciplinary teams and creating an environment built on accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Navigating governance, risk and performance frameworks within large, complex organisations, ideally in the public sector or similarly nuanced environments.
- Strong judgement, resilience and the ability to make confident decisions in environments where ambiguity and complexity are part of the landscape.
- Most importantly, you’ll be motivated by the opportunity to lead work that makes a real difference for communities across Aotearoa New Zealand.
