As part of this mission, we’re looking for a Training Solutions Developer to join their Qualifications Group and help shape high quality vocational education that meets industry needs.
We’re now looking for a Manager Training Solutions to lead this important mahi, guiding a talented team, partnering with industry, and ensuring MITO’s programmes remain current, robust, and future‑focused.
About the role
As the Manager Training Solutions, you’ll lead the Training Solutions team and oversee the development, review, and continuous improvement of MITO’s training programmes. Your work ensures that qualifications are industry‑aligned, strategically relevant, and compliant with NZQA and other regulatory requirements.
This role is ideal for someone who has lived experience in one of the sectors MITO supports and understands the real‑world needs of learners and employers, thrives at both strategic and operational levels, a sound leader who can manage complex programme portfolios, and build strong relationships across industry, government, and the wider vocational education ecosystem.
Key responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and support the Training Solutions team to deliver high‑quality programme development and review.
- Oversee the design, maintenance, and scheduling of MITO’s training programmes, policies, and procedures.
- Engage effectively with industry, learners, employers, Industry Skills Boards, NZQA, and technical experts to ensure programmes remain fit‑for‑purpose.
- Manage engagement and grow MITO’s Industry Reference Groups (IRGs).
- Build strong internal and external relationships, including with assessors, providers, TEC, NZQA, NZTA, and other key stakeholders.
- Contribute to NZQA self‑reviews and support organisation‑wide quality assurance activities.
- Provide timely advice on changes affecting MITO’s programmes.
What you’ll bring
We’re looking for someone who demonstrates strong leadership, excellent communication, and a deep understanding of vocational education in Aotearoa.
You will have:
- A relevant tertiary qualification.
- Lived and relevant sector experience
- In‑depth knowledge of the New Zealand Qualifications and Credentials Framework, particularly in industry training.
- Proven experience leading and managing a team in a fast paced environment
- Previous experience designing, implementing, and managing education programmes.
- Experience with national programme delivery models and quality assurance systems.
- Strong networking, facilitation, and relationship‑building skills.
- Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and report‑writing abilities.
