Kia mahi ngātahi mō Pōneke mō tōna āpōpō - Working together for Wellington's future

Are you passionate about building safety and compliance? We are searching for a Senior Building Warrant of Fitness (BWoF) Audit Officer to join our Building Compliance team and help ensure Wellington's commercial buildings are safe, compliant and well-maintained.

Ngā Taipitopito Tūranga - Role details

As a senior in the BWoF team, you'll bring your expertise to conduct audits of Wellington's commercial building stock in accordance with central government and legislated requirements. You'll be visiting sites to ensure the building owner is complying with their obligations under the BWoF provisions of the Building Act and work to verify the building's 'specified systems' are being appropriately inspected and maintained, from smoke control, fire alarms to emergency exits.

Ngā tohu me ngā wheako - Qualifications and experience

To succeed in this role, you'll need a relevant qualification ideally in a building related field, along with practical experience and a solid understanding of the Building Act 2004 and NZ Building Code. A full, clean NZ driver licence is essential.

We're looking for someone who communicates clearly and confidently, can build strong relationships and is comfortable managing conflict when needed. You'll be someone who knows their stuff and can explain your reasoning to help achieve better outcomes for our communities. While we operate in a regulatory environment, we value curiosity, pragmatism and flexibility in how we approach our work.

If you are ready to make a meaningful impact on the safety of Wellington's built environment, we would love to hear from you.

We are looking to appoint between $96,866 and $113,959 per annum, for this role, depending on relevant skills and experience.

If you are someone with minimal experience in this field or a related area, but keen to step into this space, we'd still like to hear from you. Someone with transferrable skills and a willingness to learn could be considered for a non-senior position.
