Are you ready to shape the future of enterprise asset management? We're looking for a strategic thinker and hands-on leader to join our us as Principal Advisor, Enterprise Asset Management. This is a unique opportunity to lead Council-wide change and influence how we manage assets for years to come - taking a more strategic, enterprise-wide approach to managing the assets we own!
This is a pivotal role where you will provide expert operational and strategic advice, coordinate key programmes, and embed best practice across Council's enterprise asset planning and management functions. Your work will uplift asset management maturity, drive continuous improvement, and ensure our frameworks and methodologies meet world-class standards.
Āu ake mahi - What you'll do
As our leading subject matter expert, you'll combine thought leadership with practical delivery. You'll develop frameworks, processes, and standards aligned with ISO 55000 and IIMM, lead the development of the Strategic Asset Management Plan (SAMP), and provide key inputs for the Infrastructure and Finance Strategies in the Council's Long-Term Plan (LTP).
Collaboration is at the heart of this role. You'll work across the organisation to embed a whole-of-Council approach to asset management, mentor colleagues, and champion a culture of excellence through a community of practice. You'll also coordinate technical workstreams, provide quality assurance, and resolve complex issues across asset management teams and take ownership of the Asset Management Information system
You'll oversee and contribute to the development of the enterprise asset management system and embed methodologies for data quality, condition assessment, risk analysis, and lifecycle modelling. Guided by The Apōpō framework, you'll integrate Te Ao Māori principles into asset stewardship.
The role also involves analysing asset performance, investment trade-offs, and strategic risks to inform decision-making, while leading improvement initiatives across the organisation.
Ngā tohu me ngā wheako - Qualifications and experience
You will hold a relevant tertiary qualification, with a postgraduate qualification or industry certification in asset management highly desirable. Significant experience in senior strategic planning or asset management, ideally in infrastructure or local government, is essential. You'll bring strong knowledge of ISO 55000 and IIMM frameworks, along with expertise in lifecycle analysis, predictive modelling, and risk management.
Experience in developing individual Asset Management Plans and their operational delivery coordinating programmes, delivering quality assurance, and optimising asset life cycles will be highly valued. You'll also have a proven ability to influence senior decision-makers and lead complex technical programmes. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills are critical, enabling you to make complex concepts clear and actionable.
