Āu ake mahi - What you'll do

As an astute, strategic people leader, you will relish the opportunity to leverage your existing experience in democratic decision-making and be ready to embrace this dynamic and challenging position.

Ideally presenting with local government experience, and ready for a step change, you will be impactful as a trusted senior advisor to Wellington City's Elected Members, Pouiwi, and our Executive Leadership Team.

You will be highly capable of leading a committed and enthusiastic team who are responsible for:

  • Supporting efficient and democratic decision making
  • Leading the provision of high-quality administrative support and procedural advice to elected members
  • Leading the management of elections, polls and election-related processes
  • Providing information and advice to Council staff and residents about democratic decision-making processes
  • Fostering public participation in the democratic process
  • Manage the team responsible for privacy and high risk information requests

Reporting into Andrea Reeves, Chief Strategy and Finance Officer, this is a fantastic time to be joining the Council as we enter a new triennium. You will be supported by Andrea who empowers her leaders to be the best they can be, enabling growth and development, evident in this opportunity arising due to internal promotion.

Naturally you will bring curiosity, coupled with rigor and integrity, an attitude of wanting to innovate, and the ability to work with your fellow leadership team to provide enterprise leadership to the wider group. You will be political savvy, possessing a proven track record of building and maintaining trust and confidence with politicians and senior management.
