Māori Educational Research Opportunities
Come and be a part of an exciting collaboration as we design and implement a kaupapa Māori research and monitoring programme that reflects the aspirations of mokopuna, their whānau, hapū and iwi.
These new positions offer a unique opportunity for kaimahi to work at the cutting edge of kaupapa Māori research and monitoring focused on the impact of Te Marautanga o Aotearoa. This work will inform the future design of Te Marautanga o Aotearoa and provide valuable insights to inform curriculum design, policy decisions, and the development of resources and supports for mokopuna, whānau, kaiako, tumuaki, kura and leaders.
We are looking for people with expertise in kaupapa Māori and proficiency in te reo Māori. You may have an education research and/or teaching background.
Te Reo Rangatira, Pāngarau or marautanga expert
This position involves Te Reo Rangatira and/or Pāngarau expertise and a sound understanding of Te Marautanga o Aotearoa. Experience or an interest in aromatawai, whakamātautau, test development and analysis would be an advantage. You may have a Māori medium or kaupapa Māori teaching background and have expertise in pānui, tuhituhi or pāngarau.
Psychometrician (experienced or interested in becoming a Psychometrician)
This position is an opportunity for either an experienced psychometrician, or a person who has a degree in mathematics, statistics, or data science who is wanting to pursue a pathway to becoming a psychometrician working in kaupapa Māori projects.
You would have capability in designing culturally appropriate psychometric measures that reflect Māori ways of knowing and being, or an interest in growing these skills. You may have experience in quantitative methods such as survey design, sampling, and statistical modelling.

The appointment level will depend on the appointee’s experience and qualifications. The successful candidates will become members of the Te Wāhanga-NZCER team and will ideally be based at our office in Wellington.
