The Parks Operations team provide a critical customer facing support service, ensuring the city's residents and visitors enjoy a well-managed and maintained environment.

Ko wai tatou - The role

We are looking for a physically fit, motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team in Parks, Sport and Recreation, Horticulture Team as an Assistant Gardner. Satisfying, challenging and rewarding, this could be the perfect career path if you have, a passion for plants, love learning and enjoy working in the outdoors.

For this role, you need to have a drivers licence - even better if you have a class 2 heavy trade licence but if not, we can support the right person to complete this. A Horticulture qualification would be ideal but not essential however you do need to be willing and eager to learn. If you've got NZQA Level 3 National Certificate in Amenity Horticulture, we can support you to complete your level 4 qualification.

Earn a salary while you gain valuable work experience, complete qualifications (including traffic management), work in a variety of locations across beautiful gardens of Wellington and enjoy the benefits of working alongside knowledgeable industry professionals with years of experience.

There is a requirement to be physically fit for this role and applicants must be prepared to undergo pre-employment health, fitness and drug screening.
