Are you an experienced and values-driven HR professional ready to influence change and support our organisation’s people strategy? We are seeking a Generalist HR Advisor to join our team in this newly created role – someone who brings a solid background in all facets of HR, along with a strong understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, Tikanga Māori, and an inclusive, people-centred approach.

Key Areas of Responsibility
- HR Advisory & Policy Review: Provide trusted advice across HR matters, support policy development and ensure compliance with current legislation.
- Talent Recruitment & Administration: Manage recruitment processes from end to end, ensuring best practice, equity, and a great candidate experience.
- Learning and Development & Mātauranga Māori: Coordinate staff development initiatives that integrate Mātauranga Māori, learning pathways, and support professional growth across the team.
- Te Tiriti o Waitangi: Champion our commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, embedding its principles into everyday HR practices and policies.
Person Specification
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
- 3–5 years’ experience in a generalist HR role.
- Strong working knowledge of New Zealand employment law and HR policy frameworks.
- Familiarity with HR systems (HRIS, ATS, LMS).
- Demonstrated stakeholder management and communication skills.
Essential Attributes
- Culturally responsive, with a deep understanding of Tikanga Māori and experience working with diverse communities.
- Highly organised and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain accurate records.
- Strong interpersonal skills, ethical integrity, and a commitment to inclusive, confidential HR practice.
- Tech-savvy and self-motivated, able to work independently and collaboratively; holds a Full NZ driver licence.
Desirable
- Fluency in Te Reo Māori.
- Fluency in a Pasifika language and cultural competency.
