Ngā kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

We are seeking a dynamic professional to build and deliver cutting-edge Research Data Management services grounded in Indigenous Data Sovereignty principles. Based in the Open Research team, which created Aotearoa's first University Open Research Position Statement and guiding principles, this newly created position will be at the forefront of developing culturally responsive Research Data Management services.

Responsibilities include providing technical expertise and support to researchers (including students) with a particular focus on Indigenous researchers and those undertaking research of relevance to Māori, Pacific and Indigenous communities. You will ensure that Research Data Management adheres to best practice while respecting Indigenous knowledge systems, cultural protocols and community ownership principles and meeting institutional and funder requirements.

You will provide group and individual teaching and training in Research Data Management, build effective relationships across the University and contribute to the development and implementation of Research Data Management infrastructure.

The salary for this role ranges from $85,279 - $97,532 per year, depending on the skills, knowledge, and experience you bring to the position. This is a full-time role (37.5 hours per week), but we welcome applications from those seeking flexible working hours. The position is based at our Hillcrest Campus. The Library supports flexible and hybrid working arrangements.

Ko wai koe? - Who are you?

We are seeking candidates with the following skills:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Kaupapa Māori, Pacific and Indigenous methodologies
  • Knowledge of Tikanga Māori
  • Knowledge of Research Data Management, particularly in relation to Māori, Pacific and Indigenous Data Sovereignty
  • Practical experience with Research Data Management platforms, repository systems and metadata standards
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to interact with diverse audiences
  • Experience identifying and analysing complex problems and developing solutions
  • High levels of digital literacy and ability to utilise technology effectively
  • University degree in a relevant discipline with postgraduate qualification or equivalent work experience
