Ka tautoko te Kaiārahi/Kaiāwhina i te Kaiwhakaako kia tukuna atu ngā hotaka ako ki ngā ākonga i roto i ngā horopaki reo Māori, arā ngā Kura Kaupapa Māori, Wharekura, Kura-ā-iwi, me ngā karaehe rūmaki i ngā Kura Auraki. Me matatau te Kaiāwhina i te reo Māori me ōna tikanga.

The kaiāwhina supports the teacher to deliver learning programmes to students within Māori language contexts —Kura Kaupapa Māori, Wharekura, Kura-ā-iwi, and immersion classes within mainstream schools. The kaiāwhina must be proficient in te reo Māori and its associated tikanga (customs).

In this role you will prepare learning resources and assist ākonga across the kura, both in-person and online. Working alongside the kaiwhakaako and kaiako, you will also help grow the collective understanding of te reo Māori and mātauranga Māori across the kura.

This role falls under coverage of the Support Staff in Schools Collective Agreement, Teacher Aide, grade D pay scale.  A full, clean New Zealand driver licence is required, and appointment is subject to a police vetting process.

About You | Mōu ake

You will be proficient in te reo Māori and have an in-depth knowledge of mātauranga Māori and/or Māori pedagogical approaches to achieve learning outcomes.

About Us | Mō Te Kura

Te Kura Āwhina Ora o te Raki (Northern Health School) is a Ministry of Education-funded school that provides education and transition support for Year 0–14 students whose health conditions prevent them from attending their regular schools. We are a large, geographically dispersed school with sites across the North Island, from Gisborne and Taranaki to the far north (Kaitaia).
