NZ RegCo plays an important role in in the operation and regulation of NZX’s securities and derivatives markets and ensuring they work in a fair, orderly, and transparent manner. Our purpose is to ensure investors, listed issuers, and market participants have confidence in the integrity and regulatory oversight of NZX’s markets.
About the Opportunity
The Senior Surveillance Analyst position will be working within NZ RegCo as part of the Surveillance team and report directly to the Head of Surveillance. You will be part of a collaborative team where you will add value through sound decision-making skills and analytical instincts, an investigative mindset and strong attention to detail.
The Senior Surveillance Analyst provides an opportunity for the successful candidate to develop as a mentor, supporting the Head of Surveillance as needed and growing your career as a leader.
Your responsibilities:
- Monitor real-time and post-trade activity to identify unusual trading behaviour, including insider trading and market manipulation.
- Lead deep-dive analysis using various data sources, including social media, trading platforms and public records.
- Contribute to and occasionally lead frontline interactions on trading issues (e.g. trade enquiries, cancellations, block trades).
- Prepare high-quality, evidence-based referrals to the Financial Markets Authority, while following a clear process.
- Mentor and support junior analysts and help ensure high-quality processes and documentation.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Recent experience in surveillance, preferably in Financial Markets.
- The ability to work independently within the framework of existing Surveillance processes.
- The skill and confidence to interact with senior internal and external stakeholders.
- A healthy level of both curiosity and scepticism, with the aptitude to identify trends in complex data patterns and follow through opportunities to improve processes.
- Sound written and verbal communication skills.
- A highly organised, diligent, and reliable approach to perform investigations quickly and accurately and to deliver up to high standards at all times.
