Te Kaahui o Rauru is on the lookout for a motivated and relationship focused Kaihaapai Ahi Kaaroa – Pou Whiritaki to help deliver meaningful kaupapa and strengthen the connection between Te Kaahui o Rauru and our iwi. This role provides the opportunity to lead, support, and grow initiatives that support the aspirations of Ngaa Rauru Kiitahi.

About the Role

As part of the Ahi Kaaroa team, this role is focused on delivering high-quality project and event coordination to support the implementation of the Te Haapai Mauri Annual Plan. The Kaihaapai Ahi Kaaroa plays a key role in planning, supporting, and delivering kaupapa that engage uri, build relationships across the rohe, and bring iwi priorities to life. You'll also ensure our iwi is represented at significant events and provide support that strengthens the reputation of Te Kaahui o Rauru.

What You’ll Bring

  • A passion for iwi development and a deep understanding of kaupapa Maaori values.
  • Confidence working with uri, hapuu, marae and a range of stakeholders.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to write and speak effectively in both English and Te Reo Maaori.
  • A collaborative approach with the initiative to work independently when needed.
  • A commitment to tikanga, whaanau empowerment and creating engaging kaupapa.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide coordination support for iwi-led projects, events and initiatives.
  • Plan and manage resources, hui, venues, and budgets to ensure smooth delivery.
  • Build relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support project documentation, risk management and reporting.
  • Facilitate iwi engagement at key cultural and community events.
  • Work alongside uri and marae to co-deliver kaupapa where appropriate.
  • Actively participate in Te Kaahui o Rauru kaupapa including waiata, hui, and whakawhanaungatanga.
  • Promote a positive image of Te Kaahui o Rauru through professional delivery and engagement.

Role Requirements

  • A tertiary qualification in project management or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a project coordination or event delivery role.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage and work within a kaupapa iwi environment.
  • Excellent time management, communication and planning skills.
  • Experience in public relations and media.
  • Full NZ driver’s licence and First Aid Certificate
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required.
