Position Overview: As the Kaiwhakahaere Matua/General Manager, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the strategic direction and day-to-day operations of Ngā Kaitiaki o Ngāti Kauwhata. Reporting directly to the Chairperson, you will lead a dedicated team, foster community engagement, and ensure the effective implementation of initiatives to enrich our people's lives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership and direction in alignment with the organization's vision and goals.
  • Manage and supervise staff, fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
  • Cultivate relationships with stakeholders, including iwi members, government agencies, and community partners.
  • Oversee financial management, including budgeting, fundraising, and grant applications.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and adherence to organisational policies and procedures.
  • Represent Ngā Kaitiaki o Ngāti Kauwhata at external events, meetings, and forums.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Proven experience in a leadership role, preferably within a community or non-profit organization.
  • Strong understanding of tikanga Māori and commitment to upholding the values of Ngāti Kauwhata.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, develop funding strategies, and drive organizational growth.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and governance frameworks.
