Robert Walters are partnering with Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora to find a highly skilled and experienced Senior Project Manager to join their team in Hawkes Bay. This role offers an exciting opportunity to manage strategic, major and minor capital projects from conception through to completion within the health sector. The successful candidate will have the chance to engage with key stakeholders, including Senior and Executive Management, to develop cost-effective and practical solutions. With up to six direct reports, this role requires strong leadership skills and the ability to mentor and train staff. What you'll do:

As a Senior Project Manager at Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora, you will play a pivotal role in managing resources to drive the delivery of the annual capital programme of work. You will actively manage facilities strategic, major and minor capital projects from conception through to completion. Your role will involve engaging with key stakeholders including Senior and Executive Management to develop cost-effective solutions. You will ensure feasibility studies and/or business cases are well researched. You will also provide facilities, technical and compliance advice within the projects team. Your role will involve selecting, managing, mentoring and training appropriate resources including internal staff, consultants and contractors. You will combine your construction knowledge, project management best practice methodologies and business acumen to manage complex projects.

  • Manage resources to drive the delivery of the annual capital programme of work
  • Actively manage facilities strategic, major and minor capital projects from conception through to completion
  • Engage, consult and manage key stakeholders including Senior and Executive Management
  • Ensure feasibility studies and/or business cases are well researched
  • Provide facilities, technical and compliance advice within the projects team
  • Select, manage, mentor and train appropriate resources including internal staff, consultants and contractors

What you bring:

The ideal candidate for the Senior Project Manager role at Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora will bring a wealth of experience and skills to the role. You will have a Bachelor's degree qualification or equivalent in Construction, Architectural or Engineering. You will also have six or more years on-the-job client-side project work experience in the construction industry. Your experience will include at least five years in Building, Construction or Engineering project team leadership and management. You will be experienced in collaborating with internal and external partners and implementing a project methodology on a project or programme of work. Your ability to influence a variety of stakeholders to achieve cost effective solutions will be key to your success in this role.

  • Bachelor's degree qualification or equivalent in Construction, Architectural or Engineering
  • Six or more years on-the-job client-side project work experience in the construction industry
  • At least five years’ experience in Building, Construction or Engineering project team leadership and management
  • Experience collaborating with internal and external partners
  • Experienced in implementing a project methodology on a project or programme of work
  • Experienced in influencing a variety of stakeholders to achieve cost effective solutions
