Mouri Tūroa Programme Manager - Jobs for Nature 


Mouri Tūroa is the Ngā Tāngata Tiaki approach to Jobs for Nature guided by Tupua te Kawa, the intrinsic values of Te Awa Tupua.  The approach works with the people to create nature-based employment benefiting the Taiao with a primary focus on the restoration and reclamation of tikanga associated with Mouri Awa, Mouri Tangata, Mouri Ora. 

Mouri Tūroa is a 4-year programme of activity designed to mitigate soil erosion, improve water quality, and enhance biodiversity within Whanganui Iwi. 

The Position 

The Programme Manager (PM) is a full-time role to lead and implement the Mouri Tūroa programme of activity and the role will be responsible for the delivery of programme outcomes. The PM will oversee all aspects of the programme and along with a small team of technical advisors, implement and achieve agreed work plans.  

As programme leader, the PM will perform the management function of planning the pathway forward, organising resources, leading the team, and controlling the programme. 

The PM will work closely with hapū and landowners to achieve their aspirations as they pertain to the programme.  Excellent communication capability and experience working closely with people from diverse demographics and across socio-economic groups will help forge and maintain relationships with hapū and landowners.  This will be critical in crafting and negotiating funding contracts with them. 

Demonstrated ability in high-level programme planning as well as specific project management planning will provide clear pathways to achieving outcomes and enable the PM to monitor and evaluate performance.  Strong critical analysis and robust assessment capability will enable the PM to manage risk and meet compliance requirements.
